St. Mary's Glacier
Tucked away about an hour and fifteen minutes from Denver resides St. Mary's Glacier.
Less than two miles out and back, it's the perfect location to elope, provided you plan accordingly as this spot is frequented by tourists and locals alike. My couple opted for a sunrise session and for the first hour or two we had the views all to ourselves. While St. Mary's Glacier, part of James Peak Wilderness, does not require a photography permit (at the time of this publishing) you will need to pay for parking which can range from $5-$20 depending on which lot you park at. There are pay stations available upon arrival so bring cash.
The hike up to the glacier is less than a mile but be aware that the trail is rocky and steep, however there are plenty of opportune spots to take breaks as you climb in elevation, decent footwear is a must along with weather appropriate attire. This elopement was in late August but it was still chilly before the sun rose.
